Recipe This | Portuguese Fish Soup In The Soup Maker (1)

Welcome to my Portuguese fish soup in the soup maker.

As a food blogger (and someone that loves food) there is always this addiction to trying out new things and then it influencing what you make yourself and then go onto sharing with your readers.

Many of you know that we live in Portugal. Well we live in the countryside in our cottage that is based between two small towns.

It is in the Algarve and we are just a 20 minute drive to the beach and have a lot of great restaurants around us.

We like to embrace the local cultures and eat Portuguese food whenever we can.

We have a favourite café in our local town. They have pizzas and burgers and other things that fit in with what the local tourists want.

But they also have a really impressive meal of the day.

It is so cheap that when we leave we examine the bill thinking that there must be some kind of mistake.

We will have had a few drinks, a rice or pasta dish, a hot chocolate and then a huge slice of homemade cake. It will cost us about 20€ (approx $22) for the four of us.

Ingredients

Soup Maker
1 Large Carrot
2 Medium Potatoes
1 Small Red Pepper
100 g White Fish
100 g Handful Of Clams
100 g Handful of Prawns
1 Can Of Tinned Tomatoes
1/3 Glass Red Wine
2 Tsp Garlic Puree
1 Tsp Mustard
2 Tsp Paprika
100 ml Water
Salt & Pepper

Instructions

Peel and chop your carrot and potatoes. Dice your white fish and red pepper and then add them all to your soup maker.
Add your uncooked seafood to the soup maker.
Add the tomatoes, wine and seasoning.
Mix well and then place your soup maker on the chunky soup setting.
Cook for 25 minutes and then serve with warm crusty bread and sprinkle a little fresh thyme on top.

Notes

The Portuguese love their garlic so if you don’t like as much garlic then reduce it by half.
