The Apple Watch SE (2nd Gen) is Apple's most affordable wearable, especially when you can find it on sale. The model is currently under $200, and while it might be the cheapest option, it's still packed with tech you'll want to take note of. It's swim-proof up to 50 meters, has an up to 18-hour battery life, a sleep monitor, fall and crash detection, and detailed insights into your workouts. You can check heart rate zones throughout your sweat sessions and stay connected by taking calls and texts at your wrist, so long as your iPhone is nearby. You won't have access to an ECG or temperature sensor, but if those aren't deal breakers for you, the SE is a solid baseline model. The GPS and Cellular model is also on sale for less than $250.
A step up from the SE, the Series 8 isn't the latest drop from Apple but it's still a solid pick. The battery life will last you up to 18 hours, so you can comfortably wear it to bed and track sleep stages throughout the night. Unlike the SE, you'll have access to a blood oxygen monitor, an ECG, a temperature sensor, and, of course, the standard heart rate monitor, activity tracking, and safety features. The on-sale model has cellular connectivity, so you can hook it up to your phone plan and take calls and answer texts even when your phone is far away. Personally, I love my cellular model because it means leaving my phone at home while on runs so I can be totally hands-free.
The Series 7 has the steepest discount of any Apple Watch we're seeing right now. It's a solid middle-ground between the Series 8 and the SE (2nd Gen) that gives you the best of both worlds if you want a totally tech-loaded watch but don't care about having the latest technology on your wrist. The major difference between the Series 8 and the Series 7 is the lack of a temperature sensor, but it does have the blood oxygen monitor that the SE doesn't offer. Like all of Apple's wearables, it's swimproof, has a heart rate monitor, sleep monitor, plus fall detection.
If the newest tech is your top priority, the Series 9 is the on-sale watch you'll want to add to your cart. This one separates itself from the rest by adding features like double tap, allowing you to control your watch literally by tapping your fingers together. It's packed with the S9 SiP, which is Apple's new internal processor that makes the watch faster, brighter, and just a bit smarter. Voice commands are more functional since the chip helps Siri process commands directly on the device. It's a serious techie upgrade, and the cellular model is also on sale if you're looking for additional connectivity.
