Introduction
There’s a new brand in town, y’all - well, new to me, anyway. Can’t say it will be a regular feature, but let’s have some fun with this order! Any Salt & Straw fans think the pints are worth $17? If so, what flavors?

Enough for something entirely different I've had a few people, maybe even just one person, honestly, um, pop up in my comments, asking me to review different brands, outside of Jenny's.
So today, I have a new brand, uh today, I'm going to be reviewing an ice cream from the brand salt.
And straw I have been following these guys pretty much since they were brought to my attention.
However, I have been hesitant to pull the trigger on placing an order for a couple reasons.
The first is that salt and straw can have some really out there flavors.
In addition to like some very easily accessible and palpable ones.
They have put out flavors like, you know that have actual crickets in them or black licorice, which like personally is not my thing or like stuff like that they're, just, um.
They really are not afraid to push the boundaries of what like can be in an ice cream, which is great.
But the second piece of it is that they're also hella expensive, um salt.
And straw pints are like five dollars more expensive.
Each than Jenny's Pines and let's.
Be honest.
Chinese pints are pretty pricey in their own right.
So I was having a hard time finding flavors that were interesting enough to me to justify placing an order for the amount that I'm I'm paying for them.
But it finally happened I made a Black.
Friday impulse, buy I went onto their website.
They had a lot of intriguing flavors and uh, I, added them to my cart and I placed the order.
And here we are, despite like the Intrigue of the flavors that prompted me to place.
This order, um I'm going to be starting out with kind of a basic one flavor that I have for you today is salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough so we're going with an elevated cookie dough experience today.
Um, a big reason that I got this one is that my husband Mike.
He is more of like a standard ice cream, kind of guy.
He doesn't necessarily go wild for all these crazy flavors that I review and I wanted to get him in on some of this action.
And you know, get some flavors that he might be excited about so we're gonna try this one with salt and straw they're, um, they're, pretty No Frills.
We have a pint all their pints.
Look the same.
They just have the different flavors written at the bottom.
There's, no flavor description, there's, no flavor story.
All I really have to go off of.
It is the ingredients, um.
So because of that I had to go onto the website and pull the flavor description from their actual webpage made with the same malt.
You'd use to brew, Amber L.
Our house made cookie dough is perfectly salty.
Thanks to two types of salt, thick, malted fudge rounds.
It all out made with Jacobson sea salt.
And then I went to The Jacobson sea salt website and they're, basically, um like a bougie salt brand.
They have a bunch of different flavors of salt I have had the sitting out for about five minutes.
Now we'll say, I did a little bit of setup before filming.
Okay, um, there's.
No like plastic wrap to take off of it.
As soon as you open the lid, it's there, um lid did get a little bit out of shape, but we don't care about that here's.
What it looks like you see some of that yummy cookie dough right at the top I think I detect a Fleck or two of chocolate and is that a swirl I don't really know it smells like cookie dough like it smells straight up like cookie dough in the bowl once you've mixed it all together before you bake it very yummy let's, go in so I'm gonna try to get a little bit of everything here I've got the good cookie dough bite there, make it? Okay.
I think the chocolate chips are just like within the cookie dough itself.
And there are no so I was mistaken.
This is just a basic base with some cookie dough in it let's.
Try it.
My first impression is that the quality of the ice cream of the base is outstanding, um, which I've kind of gone into this being like, will it better be but the texture, oh, my God it's.
So smooth, oh, you do get that multi, flavor.
Damn that's.
Good this is gonna sound like a dumb thing to say about ice cream, but it really does like melt in your mouth like it's, like almost like it.
It starts to evaporate as soon as it hits your tongue.
Crazy.
The cookie dough is also outstanding like sometimes, you know, you have cookie dough and ice cream and like it hardens a bit because you know, it's frozen in ice cream, but it's because it was soft like it tastes like you just mixed it in the bowl too.
It is so good and I am picking up on the saltiness as well it's, subtle it's perfectly dumb it's, like, you know, a little finishing of the sprinkling of the salt on the top of your cookies, it's there, but it's, not in your face with grating of these I do kind of want to keep in mind.
The price point I want to kind of go in with the lens of is this worth the price right? Um.
This is an excellent flavor.
It's, not super original.
Obviously, um.
But I think if you're looking for like an elite chocolate chip cookie dough.
This is the way to go I, don't think it's worth 17, maybe be better off getting this at a scoop shop or something if you're near one, um, if you're already gonna place an order of other flavors that are maybe a little more interesting it's, definitely worth throwing this one in, um with that I'm gonna give it like a 5 out of 10.
it's, super yummy.
It gets high points for, um, just like the silkiness of the ice cream base itself, I'm really hoping to see more of that in this brand.
And the cookie dough is unmatched.
I haven't had cookie dough this good in any ice cream.
I don't think ever, um.
But you know, it's not super original and it's hella expensive.
So for those Reasons I'm, giving it a 5 out of 10.
and that's what we have for our first salt and straw ice cream, that's, the scoop I'll see on the next one I have to add an addendum to this video.
So I just went out in the living room to let Mike try some.
And he was like, yeah, it's.
Okay.
And when he gave it back, um, I noticed that like the malted fudge the fudge that they talked about see, you know, if they put it in the description, I wouldn't have missed it.
He got like a fair amount of the fudge.
So oh, okay.
So texturally it's, giving dunkaroos chocolate icing.
Flavor.
Wise that malt is coming in again, I, don't know, that's as nice in the fudge fudge on its own I could do without I think fudge within the grand scheme of the rest of the flavor is good I would like to try to do, um, one bite with all of the elements.
I think, this is a good bite.
We've got the cookie dough.
We've got the malted fudge.
We've got the ice cream.
The fudge is okay.
It's.
Not my favorite element.
I think this just makes me firmer in my assessment of 5 out of 10.
Thank you for that.
Bye-Bye.
