Happy Halloween!

October 31, 08

I love Halloween, don't you? My favorite thing is the little kids when they come to the door. We went out to dinner last night and a mom came in with her son maybe 3 years old in this ornate little red jacket that looked like he was ready to lead a marching band, complete with little white gloves. He was Prince Charming. And indeed he was!

So I finally jumped on the Season of Friendship bandwagon and made this card I have been seeing everywhere. Aren't the colors splendid?

I stamped and embossed extra leaves and cut them out. I used Mini Dots to attach them to the paper.

Project Season of Friendship Card
Paper: White CS, Chocolate Chip CS, Sage Shadow CS, Autumns Vine DSP
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Sage Shadow, More Mustard, Really Rust
Stamp Sets: Season of Friendship, Best Yet Hostess Set
Accessories: Designer Brad, Curly Label Punch, Mini Glue Dots

Have a fun and safe Halloween!

Happy Cupcake Birthday

October 30, 08

I redid the card I made below because I liked it so well, this time using Rainbow Sherbet DSP. It looks so happy to me.

I worked on November's project of the month last night and knew I needed to come into my office for my catalog. I used a retired stamp set! Now I have to start all over... Oh well, practice makes perfect.

Sneak Pink (peak) Of My New Stamp Room

October 30, 08

I have finally moved my stamps out of my office area and took over a spare bedroom we have downstairs. It is painted Bubble Gum Pink. It took some getting used to but I really love it! All of house is painted a tan color with off white trim so as you go down the hallway to my new room when the door is shut, all you see from under the door is a pink glow!

As usual you can see Lola right in the middle of things. I found her the cutest little polka dot bed. When I get the rest of the room organized and the shelves up I'll show you the rest. So far it looks as if the closet is big enough to keep my supplies and stamps in it. Whoo Hooo! The desk is from Pottery Barn. Right now I have 2 of the 2 file drawers because the 3 drawer is backordered but hopefully will be here soon.

I'm So Blue... My Snowman That Is!

October 28, 08

Not really, I just wanted to use the title. It is actually a beautiful day here in Alabama and we are expecting a cold front today so it is my kind of weather! Our trees are starting to turn and the colors are starting to put on their show. I have to admit Alabama is so different than what I had envisioned it to be! We have mountains (well, foothills) but can get to them quickly, lots of lakes and we have all four seasons. Snowflakes, but I haven't seen it stick to the ground yet. We were also amazed at the restaurants Huntsville has and we have wonderful shopping. We are really enjoying living here. The best thing is all of the great friends I have made here since I became a Stampin' Up! Demo.

This is another swap I got from Karen and I just love it! I have this set and have yet to add ink to the rubber. I know, bad me! I think it is time to get out this set as this card is as cute as it can be. It also uses our Big Shot Snowflake. I am really loving having the photo lights out again, the colors are very improved.

Cardinal Christmas Wow Card

October 27, 08

This was a stamp camp favorite card. It uses Holiday Treasures DSP.

At camp each session we gave away a Big Shot starter package! We hold a raffle and we have a table full of prizes. The raffle this time benefited the Ronald McDonald House. One girl who won the Big Shot did cartwheels, she was so excited. If you missed stamp camp this time and live in the Northern Alabama area and would like to be notified of the next event, email me and I will send details to you.

This tri-fold is the perfect card if you want to send out a family photo in your card. I would layer it and maybe add an element or two. The circle was cut with a Coluzzle. The bird is watercolored.

Stamp Camp is Over!

October 26, 08

We had the best time at this years Holiday Stamp Camp! We had great projects and this was the easiest one ever to teach. We celebrated afterwards at Teranova's and I doubt our waiter will ever be the same. He asked if we were coming back to give him a 24 hour notice. I still am not sure he knows what a Big Shot is! We had our Big Shot with us (Joann) and laughed all thru lunch.

Here are a couple of the swaps I got and one of our Stamp Camp projects. I'll share the rest with you over the week. The first project is from Stamp Camp and uses the A Cardinal Christmas stamp set. We used this set for several projects, it is so versatile. We also featured the Big Shot in some of our projects with SU's exclusive dies like the Top Note Die you see below on the peppermint bag.

Project Cardinal Christmas Treats
Paper: Very Vanilla CS, Red Riding Hood CS, Old Olive CS
Ink: Red Riding Hood, Old Olive
Stamp Sets: Cardinal Christmas
Accessories: Scallop Punch, Circle Punch, Top Note Big Shot Die, Large Oval Punch, Ribbon

Thelma's swap card also uses A Cardinal Christmas from the Mini Catalog. Notice the stamping she did on our Taffeta Ribbon.

This card was done by Karen using Eastern Blooms. I love the colors!

Kind Thoughts

October 22, 08

I have been so busy getting my stamp room together and ready for stamp camp that I have not stamped a thing this week. Tomorrow we meet to set up Stamp Camp and will run thru all of the Stamp Camp projects which I will share with you next week. We have the best time at Stamp Camp and on Friday some of the girls (ladies) are spending the night here. I still have another card I did at Joann's last week so here it is. It uses the Kind Thoughts stamp set and I love the colors on this card. This photo does not do this card justice. The great thing is when I take my next pictures I will be able to use all of my photo lighting I have but didn't have room to set it up. No more bad photos!!! Yeah!

The background of the card is stamped with Chocolate Chip with En Francais. The Cocoa CS  The butterfly is stamped in cocoa. Use a Versa Marker pen and emboss with Dazzling Diamonds.

Kindred Spirits

October 19, 08

I still don't have my new stamp room together, but it is getting close! I can't wait to share the pictures with you. I am sharing another card I made at Joann's the other day. We used the stamp set Kindred Spirits and used the Faux Silk Technique.

Card Class at Joann's

October 18, 08

I went over to Joann's yesterday for a card class. It is always so much fun and just when I thought I was done buying stamps from this catalog she used several sets I don't have yet and now I am going to do another order!

The first card is from Nature's Silhouettes and uses Mellow Moss, Vanilla and Always Artichoke CS. I really love this card and Charity did a great job designing it.

Project Nature's Silhouettes
Paper: Mellow Moss, Vanilla and Always Artichoke CS
Ink: Mellow Moss
Stamp Sets: Nature's Silhouettes
Accessories: Jumbo Eyelets, Twill Tape

The next card uses a set I have and wanted to use but haven't found time yet. After I get moved into my new stamp room that should change when I get organized. I'm hoping I get all moved in and my office cleaned up this weekend. It's a big job, so I'll see. This next card is a little tasky, I was stamping with Celeste and she did 2 1/2 cards by the time I finished this one. I was bow challenged yesterday and just couldn't get them like I wanted them. Actually I did 4 of these cards at the same time. The Bella Rose Flower is stamped on White and then cut out.

Project Bella Blossoms
Paper: Ruby Red, White, Certainly Celery
Ink: Ruby Red, Certainly Celery and Garden Green
Stamp Sets: Bella Blossoms
Accessories: Celery Ribbon, Curly Punch, Tombrow Glue, Chunky Glitter

Have a great weekend! This card is very pretty IRL, it was hard getting a good picture of it.

Flores Suaves Card

October 15, 08

I made this card on Sunday and after doing the main image it sat on desk for 4 hours. I like the way it came out. I think I was distracted because my new craft room was being painted. I'll share pictures later of it when it is put together. We picked up my new desk and chair yesterday at Pottery Barn, if you are looking for a corner desk they had the best option I could find anywhere. My new room is painted Bubble Gum Pink! The rest of our house is painted a tan color so it is quite an adjustment when you open the door. Because the room has a very large window you can see  a glow from under the door when you go to the room. I hope all of the white going in it tones it down some, because it is very, very pink!

So here is the card I came up with. I used Chocolate Designer paper and a stamp set from the new Spanish catalog called Flores Suaves. I stamped the flower first and then masked it before doing the word stamp. The butterfly has Dazzling Diamonds on it in areas.

Project Flores Suaves Card
Paper: Vanilla CS, Chocolate Chip CS, Close to Cocoa CS
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Cocoa, Mellow Moss
Stamp Sets: Flores Suaves from the SU Spanish Catalog
Accessories: Vanilla Ribbon, Scallop Punch, Versa Mark Marker, Dazzling Diamonds

Happy Birthday Celeste!

October 14, 08

I made this card last night for a friend who has a birthday today, we celebrated this morning at the Cracker Barrel for breakfast.

Last night I sat down to make this card and loved doing it. I know I've said it before but I love this set! I used the big cupcake in the set to decorate the envelope and since it wasn't going thru the mail even used the chunky glitter on it. I used Crystal Effects on the frosting and then added the chunky glitter. Then I added the Crystal Effects to the cherries.

I saw this card somewhere and loved the pumpkin and regal rose together. The set is Crazy For Cupcakes and was new in our fall catalog.

Project Crazy For Cupcakes Happy Birthday
Paper: Pumpkin Pie CS, Regal Rose CS, Shimmery White CS, Sweet Always DSP
Ink: Sahara Sand, Regal Rose, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Black
Stamp Sets: Crazy For Cupcakes
Accessories: Corner Punch, White Chunky Glitter, Crystal Effects, Pumpkin Pie Ribbon

Another Cardinal Christmas Card

October 11, 08

I had water-colored another image when I did the card the other day so I picked it up and finished a card using it today. Like the other, I used Iridescent Ice on the entire image to give it some sparkle.

I embossed the greeting and the border with gold embossing powder. The border stamp image is from a set called Beautiful Borders that I just got this week. I think you may be seeing a lot of it in the future, I can see many uses for the borders in the set. There are also 4 greetings.

Paper: Old Olive CS, Red Riding Hood CS, White Cs
Ink: Versa Mark
Stamp Sets: A Cardinal Christmas, Beautiful Borders
Accessories: Corner Punch, Dimensionals, Gold Brads, Red Riding Hood Taffeta Ribbon, Gold Embossing Powder, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder

Snow Swirled Card

October 11, 08

This is an elegant Christmas card and easy to do also. If you have a lot of cards to do this may be the one you want to do.

Did you know you can run Cuttlebug Folders thru your Big Shot? That is exactly what I did to create the band of dots on this card. I stamped the snowflakes from this set on the top of this card and layered the dotted swiss piece and ribbon. I added rhinestones to give the card some bling. I used Dimensionals to the tree layered piece to mount it on the card.

Project Snow Swirled Christmas Card
Paper: Old Olive CS, White CS
Ink: Old Olive
Stamp Sets: Snow Swirled
Accessories: Corner Punch, Dimensionals, Dotted Swiss Cuttlebug Folder, Rhinestones

As a reminder there are only a few more days to register for Stamp Camp. I can tell you the projects are fantastic and fun!

A Haunting We Will Go!

October 11, 08

This is a quick and easy project that I am going to do for some of our neighborhood kids only I will fill them with candy bars. I think they look pretty with the candy corn in them so I borrowed some from my husband to fill this one.

I cut a piece 12 inches long of the Ghostly Greetings DSP to make the band around the tin and crimped it. Attach with Sticky Tape. Stamp an image from Batty For You for the tag. Punch out. Punch a scallop circle and a 1 3/8 inch circle. Attach with sticky tape. Attach tag with Dimensionals to band.

Project Haunting Tin
Paper: Ghostly Greetings DSP
Ink: Black Stazon
Stamp Sets: Batty For You, Haunting Wheel
Accessories: Tin, Crimper

The top of the tin is rolled on using the Haunting Wheel with Stazon.

A Banner For Lexi

October 10, 08

I made this banner for a friend of mines daughter, Lexi. It has been such a pleasure to get to know her mother over the summer. I still have to add the ribbon to the sides to hang it but am waiting until I know the length to finish it. The banners are 3 layers and cut with the large and small Pennant Dies. I stamped the butterflies on Pink Pirouette paper with Elegant Eggplant and cut them out. I attached them to the banner with Tombrow glue.

Project Lexi's Banner
Paper: Pretty In Pink, Pink Pirouette DSP, Elegant Eggplant, Banbury DSP
Ink: Elegant Eggplant
Stamp Sets: Flight of the Butterflies
Accessories: San Serif Alphabet Dies, Scallop Die, Pennant Dies, Pink Pirouette Ribbon, Large Eyelets

Have a great weekend!

Christmas Classics Card

October 9, 08

I got this set yesterday, it is called Christmas Classics and it has some fabulous images. There is this ornament stamp, a tree stamp, a star stamp, holly leaves and a jingle bell that says Jingle All the Way and the sentiment Merry Christmas.

This card is very pretty in real life and I think the set would also be good for scrapbook pages. I'm embossed the ornaments in gold and it doesn't show but the center ornament in cut out and popped up with Dimensionals. I tied gold cord around the tops by punching thru the center of the tops.

Paper: Ski Slope DSP, Old Olive and Real Red
Ink: Versa Mark
Stamp Sets: Christmas Classics
Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder, Gold Elastic Cord from the Mini Catalog

Scandinavian Christmas

October 8, 08

This stamp set is in the new Mini Catalog and has some of the cutest stamps in it. It is called Scandinavian Season and has a mitten, snowflake, a star and the tree image I used for this card.

The tree is embossed and then colored with a blender pen using an ink pad. I just kept applying color until I got the depth I wanted. The designer paper is Ski Slope, also in the mini.

Project Scandinavian Season Card
Paper: Ski Slope DSP, Baja Breeze, Pacific Point and Shimmery White
Ink: Baja Breeze
Stamp Sets: Scandinavian Season
Accessories: Pacific Point Ribbon, Clear Embossing Powder, Versa Mark

Some of you have been asking about Lola, she is 10 months old now, spoiled rotten and still loves designer paper! Yesterday she got a hair cut and came home with a purple polka dot bow in her hair which to my surprise she left there all day until I took it out. Here she is beside my stamping desk after a hard day of getting pretty.

I'm Getting Ready For Halloween!

October 7, 08

I worked on Halloween projects all day yesterday so I have 3 projects to show you today. One is a Halloween tree I started last week, some Halloween candy treat wraps and a Halloween card.

The tree has pumpkins, witch's hats and scary spiders. It was so much fun to do.

The pumpkins are made with 5 x 1/4 inch strips of DSP. You punch a hole at the end of each strip and then put them together with brads. I cut out some leaves and glued them on.

The witch's hat are done with the Big Shot, you are going to cut a scallop with the Bigz Pennant Scallop in black and one scallop from the Bigz Scallop Die which you cut in half. Roll the paper a little to get some curve. Use sticky tape to hold it together when you form the cone. Fold up the scallops and add a dab of glue. Attach to the smaller scallop. Add a thin strip that has been run thru the crimper for a band.

The spiders are cased from SCS and they were created by casegj. They have York Peppermint Patties in the center. You are going to punch 4 each of 2 colors for the legs, 2 scallops, 2 - 1/2 inch white circles, 2 - 1/4 inch black circles and a red one. I used red pom poms. You will attach 2 of the legs to each piece. Assemble with the candy in the center. I dotted the eyes with our white Signo pen also.

Next is a card that I also did a technique page on. I used the Baby Wipe Technique to create the background.

After creating the background, I used the Haunting wheel to do the black figures. The shoe on the pillow is cut out and embossed. The saying and shoes comes from Humor in High Heels.

Project All About the Shoes
Paper: Pumpkin Pie CS, Ghostly Greetings DSP, Glossy CS
Ink: Black, Elegant Eggplant, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron
Stamp Sets: Humor in High Heels and Haunting Wheel
Accessories: 1 rhinestone brad in the shoe

Lastly I have a little Halloween treat wrap that holds some Halloween candy. The pumpkin pie piece is 3 x 8 and scored at 3 1/2 and 4 1/2. The black piece is 2 x 3 and edged with the scallop punch. I cut a window out with our Oval punch. I sponged the background to create some texture. I used our small cellophane bag to hold the candy. It is the perfect size! The stamp set used is Eat, Drink and Be Scary from the mini catalog.

I hope you have enjoyed the projects and they give you some inspiration to go create something! If you need some Stampin Up products, we now have Online ordering! I also have a new Frequent Stamper program where you can earn Free Stamps!

Upsy Daisy in Pink

October 6, 08

Here is another card made with Upsy Daisy, I so love this stamp set. I needed a birthday card in pink and this card fits the bill.

I cut out 2 scallops with the Big Shot using the large Scallop Die. I then cut the centers out using a Coluzzle. This card is 5 1/4 x 5 1/4. I started out designing this card using the other side of the designer paper, but at the last minute switched to this monochromatic look. I colored the stamp with Pretty in Pink Ink and then used a Regal Rose Marker to color the tips of the flowers. I then misted the stamp lightly with a spray bottle before stamping.

The tag is punched first with the oval punch after stamping the sentiment, then layered with the large Oval Punch which is new in this catalog. I added a brad from the Pretties Kit. After putting the tag together it is attached with Dimensionals.

Happy Stamping! Enjoy your week....

I stamped the spiders and bats on white cardstock with black ink and embossed them with Clear Embossing Powder. The paper used is from Ghostly Greetings DSP and the ribbon is our Pumpkin Pie.

A Cardinal Christmas

October 5, 08

I used a new set from the Mini Catalog - A Cardinal Christmas for the next card. It is easy to do and very pretty with all the embossing over the main image.

The image was stamped with Brown Stazon. I used Red Riding Hood, Old Olive, So Saffron and Close to Color to watercolor the image with an Auqapainter. I then used Versa Mark on the entire image and covered with Embossing Powder.
