Project of the Month - It's For the Birds Card Holder Purse with Cards

March, 09

This Card Holder Purse makes a perfect gift when you fill it with your stamped cards. This purse was originally designed by Julie for SCS. I had such fun making it! I used Delicate Dots DSP. Delicate Dots is only available until the end of March in case you still want to get some.

Here is what you need to make the purse:
Front and Back Pieces - 2 pieces - 5 x 8 1/2 - Scored at 2 1/4 on the 8 1/2 inch side (picture below)
Handles - 2 pieces - 3/4 x 11
Purse Flap to close it - 1 piece - 1 1/2 x 6 - Scored at 1 and 3 1/4
Card and Envelope Pockets - 2 pieces - 4 1/2 x 7 1/2 - Scored at 1/2 and 1 1/2 on one long side and the 2 short sides - Cut out the bottom squares (picture below)
Red Sticky Tape
Word Window Punch
Corner Rounder
Brads
Decoration
- 2 pieces of DSP - 6 x 4 3/4 for covering front and back
Inside Decoration
- 4 1/4 x 2 3/4 DSP
Decorations as desired
- I cut out the bird on this one and then covered it with Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds. I cut out one of the large pink flowers from Delicate Dots and put a clear Rhinestone Brad in the center.

After you have scored your pieces, you can start assembling your purse. With the Word Window Punch punch at the top of one of 5 x 8 1/2 pieces, this will be your front. The flap will go thru this to close the purse. Add your DSP pieces to the front and back of the purse. (Make sure that the tape does not prevent the flap from going into the back of the front piece.)

Take your 1 1/2 x 6 piece and round the corners on one end (this goes to the front thru the word window hole. Use the Red Sticky Tape and attach the square end to the back of the purse.

To form the pockets for the cards, fold on the score lines. Place Red Sticky Tape on back of the 3 sides. Attach to the inside of the purse as shown in picture.

Using Red Sticky Tape place it on your bottom pieces to form purse. Carefully line up your pieces and attach them together.

Use a small piece of Red Sticky Tape to hold the purse straps in place. Reinforce with 2 brads in each strap.

Make your cards and fill your purse.

The stamp sets I used for the cards were Cheep Talk, Good Friend and A Little Birdie Told Me. All of the cards were made using Delicate Dots DSP also.

I hope you have enjoyed this month's project!
